Why Did You Become a Dentist?
I became a dentist because I love interacting with people and help them look and feel healthier. Starting with the early days of my journey as a dentist, and after seeing the changes people go through when they walk into a dental appointment with pain and come out with a smile, I knew I was on the right track and that this is what I wanted to do.
Today, as Acton, MA resident and practicing family and cosmetic dentist, being able to use my expertise in dental health care to serve the dental needs of my community may perhaps be the ultimate dream come true. For me, Acton Smile Hub is a home away from home and the staff and the patients are an extension of my family. I look forward to caring for each patient and I am grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of fellow local residents.
What is Your Dental Care Philosophy?
I believe in achieving and maintaining optimal oral health through preventative treatments and patient education. At Acton Smile Hub, we provide thorough and attentive dental care and we are all passionate about educating our patients on all things dental. We are committed to keep you informed and help you get on a path to a better dental health.
To achieve this goal and prevent dental problems before they occur, we recommend all our patients visit us twice a year for dental checkups and cleanings. This allows us to monitor your dental health regularly, discuss your oral hygiene habits and detect potential oral health issues early and treat them with minimal, least invasive dental treatments. The earlier we diagnose an issue the better the chances that we can treat it in the most affordable and comfortable manner. This preventative approach minimizes the risk of more complex oral health problems in the future and ensures your natural teeth and your gums can remain healthy for life.
Where Did You Complete Your Dental Education?
I was born and raised in Macedonia where I obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree in 2006. I was in practice for few years, before I moved to the US in 2008. While living in Portland, Maine I had the pleasure of volunteering at a caring family dental practice and then a pediatric dental office. During this time, I also completed a Health Policy and Management Program at the University of Southern Maine.
My passion for dentistry took me on a path to license my degree at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. I received a Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree in 2013. As a passionate and lifelong learner always striving for excellence, I enjoyed my time at BU as it gave me the opportunity to draw parallels of how different dental treatments are rendered in different parts of the world. I graduated with top honors in my class and received the Outstanding Achievement and Excellence in Patient and Practice Management Award as well as the Quintessence Award for Clinical Achievement in Periodontics.
What Kind of Advanced Dental Training Do You Have?
To provide best care for my patients and stay abreast of all changes and technological advancements in dentistry, I became an active Spear Dental Study Club member and regularly attend continuing education courses and seminars. I have dedicated countless hours to complete advanced courses and implement modern technology at Acton Smile Hub to keep up with the latest findings and techniques in modern dentistry: from 3D digital intraoral scanning to dental laser treatments.
For better patient experience with faster, painless and more precise dental treatments and to be able to implement soft tissue lasers at our practice, I completed a certification course in Laser Dentistry with The American Board of Laser Surgery.
To help patients with TMJ pain and discomfort, jaw clenching and teeth grinding, gummy smile and other dental conditions, I attended specialized training and became certified Botox dental practitioner.
In addition, I am a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society and an alumni member of the National Dental Honor Society. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to say I enjoy what I do, take great pride in my work and embrace any opportunity to become better.
What Do You Enjoy Doing Outside of the Dental Office?
I live in Acton, MA with my husband Kris, our daughter Anabela and our golden retriever Sasha. I love spending time with them when I am not working and I always look to spend as much time as I can outdoors, whether gardening in our yard or going for a long walk with our dog or hiking.
I try to stay active and enjoy biking, running, skiing, and snowboarding and I love traveling and visiting new places. I am also passionate about interior design and decorating my home - its lot of fun but also a never-ending project.
